Tea Bag Challenge Week #31

Here is the week 31 tea bag for my challenge. This actually is an instant coffee bag rather than a tea bag! I had mounted it on to a piece of watercolor paper some time back and never did anything further with it. Felt like playing around with brusho so sprinkled some on applied water a called it done!

Not too original but an interesting piece none the less. Little 5 x 5 small art piece and another experiment.

Until next time……stay cool and stay motivated

Quick 6 x 9 Brusho Fall Painting

Did this quick little brusho painting on a left over piece of cut watercolor paper.

Tried to keep this one under control and create a more watercolor type look.

I like the lightness of the colors and the control I was able to keep in check this go round.

Been working on the “Heaven” series for quite a bit of time now and think they may be finished! Will be posting shortly after pondering over them yet another day! Not what I intended when I started but they have come along none the less.

Until next time…….keep it light and push on

Brusho Fall Foliage Painting

Many layers of brusho and many mistakes. This 9 x 12 painting came about from inspiration I found looking through Pixabay fall foliage photos!

After two days of playing around with it, bleaching out parts of it and scrapping it more than once here is the final result. Up close and this photo I’m sharing don’t do it much justice. But put it a bit away behind a matt it it looks pretty darn good. I love the composition and the forest fall feeling with the light coming through. I have truly missed not seeing the fall trees and I am enjoying them as much as I can. We are still in the northeast for the foreseeable future looking after my aging mom since losing dad in the spring. Making the most of all I have missed as time permits. Never taking for granted the beauty around us every day despite the condition of our strange new world we find ourselves living in.

Haven’t been doing anymore brusho, so this is it for a while! Have a few fall ideas I want to explore in watercolor. Been watching videos and trying to learn some new skills to try out! Stay tuned for what may come of that!

Until next time……check out the foliage in your area and enjoy

Brusho Roses Attempt

Another brusho attempt, roses. This is an 8 x 10 painting using india ink and brusho.

Used the ink to tighten things up and give the rose and buds a definite shape. Added a bit too much water and the red lost it’s brusho looseness and kind of pooled in a solid puddle. So, to make it acceptable I let everything dry and added the ink.

Been busy with the grandsons for the last week and haven’t been in the studio until today. I am working on a series of paintings, three 18 x 24’s. I had prepared these three canvas’s last year and intended to do three beach or marsh scenes for the sunroom. Not the way it went after all. I went with a totally different theme. Stay tuned I may post them when I am finished if I feel they are worthy. They are like nothing I have even done or attempted. Acrylics, which I really don’t like working with, but have been learning and trying to break out of my usual watercolor zone!

Hope everyone is staying safe and well in these continuing trying times.

Until next time…….if possible try a different method or medium

Blowing Sunflowers in Brusho

Another brusho attempt of sunflowers blowing in the wind. Inked the drawing first and wet the leaf areas for the green. Kind of painted this in. Sprinkled and sprayed the yellows and reds to create the feeling of movement for the petals. Really happy with the way this one came out!

Gonna keep trying and improving with this exciting medium. I don’t think of this as fine art but it is certainly a fun way to spend some time getting loose and letting the paint do the work instead of controlling every detail. I’m hoping the looseness of this will help me when I go back to my favorite medium, watercolor, we’ll see huh?

Until next time……flowers are fading enjoy while you can

Brusho Dragonfly 9 x 12

Dragonfly done with india ink and brusho on 9 x 12 watercolor paper.

Still playing around with the brusho, using the six basic colors I originally purchased while I wait for the new colors to arrive!

Drew a dragonfly and inked in the wing details and body markings. Really wanted to keep this one loose and splattery. As you can see I overworked it quite a bit trying to control the color in the wing areas!

Still fun and quite challenging.

Until next time……keep at it and don’t give up

Another Brusho Attempt

This is an early attempt playing around with the new brusho! Went for something a bit larger, using a 9 x 12 sheet of watercolor 140 lb paper.

Penciled in the basic bouquet then added the ink lines. Placed a few wax resist swipes before dropping in the brusho. I wet the paper before adding the brusho for the main flowers and leaves. In other areas I sprinkled the brusho first then sprayed the area with water.

The end result was a bit too even and colorful in the flower area so I splattered in straight bleach to break it up. I like the bold brightness of this one. Still playing and practicing though.

I prefer to use this medium on larger paper and make bold big subjects to sprinkle into! Very fun to work with. If you are feeling tight and closed in on whatever you are working on try a brusho project to loosen things up. You are forced to give up control and let the product do it’s thing.

Until next time…….let loose and play

First Brusho Painting

Here is my first brusho painting attempt! It is an additive medium that I am constantly playing with when time allows.

This one is a bit all over the place and did get a little muddy on the bottom left.

I purchased a six piece set with a spritzer spray bottle included. This is made by Colourcraft, Colours & Adhesives Limited. The colors in this set include, Sunburst Lemon, Orange, Alizarin Crimson, Violet, Turquoise and Sea Green. A good combination and many colors can be mixed if needed. I have since ordered three colors to add to these. I purchased individual containers of Burnt Sienna, Moss Green and Colbalt Blue to add some possibilities to try my hand at landscapes.

There seems to be many ways to use this product, not just as a painting medium. I think as part of a mixed media kit for journal pages, stamping projects and card making are all possible uses.

Plan to keep messing with it and posting my findings and finished projects.

Until next time…….try a new product if the chance arises
